ST1M: Between Battle-Rap, Album and Today’s Story

A Name with Multiple Entry Points

ST1M is represented in the current Story selection with a Performance Clip. The clip makes immediate access easy: voice, performance and a short musical moment. To place the artist further in context, it’s worth looking at two older original sources. They lead to the debut album „Я — рэп“ and to a long conversation about the Russian Battle-Rap scene. Both belong in the archive; they are not reports about a new release in October 2026.

The Debut of 2007

The Flow dates „Я — рэп“ to the Spring of 2007 and names King Ring, the label of Seryoga, as the original release context. In a contribution to the ten-year anniversary, the magazine reported in 2017 about ST1M’s announcement of a Tribute Project. This provides a concrete historical anchor: whoever hears the current clip for the first time can go from there to an album that was already publicly discussed at the time. The announcement at that time is not evidence of the current status of a label or of the later actually released lineup of a Tribute Album.

The Artist Tells His Own Story

In September 2017, ST1M was a guest on The Flow’s video interview series „Русский рэп от первого лица“. This format lets participants tell the story of Russian Rap from their own perspective. ST1M’s episode starts with his role in early Battle-Rap. For an introduction, this conversation is particularly useful, because it lets you experience the artist as a speaking person and get to know his then view of the environment. A memory from the interview remains a personal account; it gains value when placed alongside releases and further voices.
